How are you responding to COVID-19?

Thank you for asking! We’re continually working to stay on course while striving to keep our clients, instructors and community safe and healthy.

Please know the symptoms of COVID-19 and stay home if you're unwell or have been at risk of being exposed.

In accordance with guidance from the CDC and State of Washington, individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can choose to go without a mask in our studio. Masks are still recommended, and we have disposable masks available if you forget. Our current class capacity is 8, spaced between 3 large tables.

What’s happening here?

We like to call ourselves a community craft space; a space where people who like to craft things can come and practice their craft, meet others interested in crafting, take crafting classes, and get advice from fellow crafters.

Come pay us a visit and tell us your favorite way to describe what we do!

What kinds of crafts can I try?

We have everything you need for the following art forms:

  • Watercolor Painting

  • Acrylic Painting

  • Block Printing

  • Card Making

  • Wood Burning

  • Embroidery and Hand Stitching

  • Jewelry Making

  • Polymer Clay

  • Knitting

  • Crochet

  • Weaving

  • Macrame

  • Drawing

  • …and more!

Can I really make whatever I want?

Absolutely! We encourage you to use our supplies to create whatever your heart desires. If you’re working on something big (like wedding invitations, for example) please give us a shout. We’d love to help you source the extra materials.

You’re also welcome to bring in any outside supplies of your own to supplement our stash, but please do not take our tools or unused supplies home with you. By joining us at Spacecraft, you agree to only use what you need for your project, and to only take home projects in progress or finished work. Please help us keep Spacecraft affordable by ensuring all our tools and supplies stay in our space.

Do you need any help?

Yes! You can help us in three major ways:

  1. Spread the word! Join our newsletter, like us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram, and tell all your friends about this weird new business you found that you think is pretty cool!

  2. Donate supplies. We’re always stocking up, and we’d love to give your stash a new home! Please click here for our general materials list, and then let us know what you have to offer.

  3. Apply as an instructor! We’re currently accepting applications from crafters who are interested in sharing their skills. We’re not big on formalities, so please just shoot us an email explaining what you’d like to teach with some examples of your work, and we’ll be in touch.

We appreciate your enthusiasm and can’t wait to meet you!

Is Spacecraft for artists?

Makers, crafters, hobbyists, creatives, dabblers, tinkerers…we’re here for you, and however you identify is fine by us! We do aim for accessibility and affordability, though, so our supplies skew more toward amateurs than serious artists. For example, we offer student grade acrylic paints, no oil paints, and googly eyes are never in short supply.

We do not allow commercial crafting through our memberships. We reserve the right to revoke membership at any time if we find that this policy is being abused. If you are interested in an artist residency, please get in touch.

Can I make a mess?

100%, that’s what Spacecraft is for! In fact, please DON’T clean up. We prefer to do the cleaning ourselves so that we can track what’s getting the most use, and so that we can make sure everything ends up back in it’s place, ready for the next user.

Can I do my work here?

We’ll call this one a “soft no” (or perhaps a “Seattle maybe”). We know the internet is full of inspiration, but we encourage you to help us maintain a creative atmosphere by limiting your use of screens and taking phone calls outside. Laptop use and projects with firm deadlines can really damper the mood.

Can I bring in outside food or drinks?

Temporarily, no. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we’ve pressed “pause” on our usual food and beverage policy:

You are welcome to bring in something to eat or drink, but unfortunately state law prohibits us from allowing outside alcohol. Event rentals and private parties are another story - let’s talk.

We always offer our complimentary beverage station with water and a variety of teas.

What if I hurt myself?

Everything you do at Spacecraft is at your own risk. It’s up to you to be smart and stay safe. By entering Spacecraft, you agree to the following statement:

I recognize that participation in some activities at Spacecraft, even when well supervised and managed, poses a risk to myself and/or my peers, and I agree to assume such risk. I hereby hold Spacecraft, its staff and agents harmless from liability for any and all medical and/or accident expenses that I may incur at Spacecraft.

Can I get a refund?

Memberships, drop-in hours, and class payments at Spacecraft are non-refundable. If something comes up and you aren’t able to make it to class, you may transfer your registration to another person.

Our classes are intended to be social experiences. Therefore, on the occasion that fewer than 5 students are enrolled in a class, we reserve the right to cancel (up to 24 hours in advance). In the event that we have to cancel a class, we will contact you directly and issue a refund.

I don’t like it.

Whelp, that’s not a question, but we hear you! As hard as we try to make Spacecraft welcoming and inclusive, we know we’ll never be everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re willing to take the time to educate us on how we can improve, please drop us a line. If, instead, you decide to take it out on our staff or other crafters, we’ll ask you to leave. If we’re simply not the right fit, we’re more than happy to offer you a list of the other incredible businesses in the Seattle area doing similar work. We hope you can find space for a creative practice that suits your needs!
